- Is there any course available at IISc after the 12th Standard?
- Yes, from 2011 onwards, a 4 year Bachelor of Science (Research) program is offered at IISc. The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in +2/12th Standard. In addition, the candidate needs to qualify in one of the national tests – KVPY/ IIT-JEE (Main) or (Advance)/ NEET.
- What are the subjects offered in the Bachelor of Science (Research) program?
- There is no specific subject offered in the Bachelor of Science (Research) program. The student must study Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, and Materials. Only in the fourth year a specialized subject will be given to the student based on the interest and performance of the student in the subject.

- Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) applicants for the Admissions at the Institute.
Persons of Indian origin holding non-Indian passports are eligible to apply for admission to the academic programs of IISc provided they hold an Overseas Citizenship of India as per section 7B(1) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955. In addition, they need to satisfy all the eligibility criteria for admission prescribed for Indian citizens.
Persons of Indian origin holding foreign passports and not holding an Overseas Citizenship of India as per section 7B(1) of the Indian Citizenship Act, 1955 can seek admission through the International Students Admission process.

- No, there is no specific subject offered in the Bachelor of Science (Research) program. You can take biology as the major subject in the courses.

- What is the selection procedure for admission to the M Tech/M Des/M Mgt programs?
- selection to M Tech is only through GATE. Selection to M Des is through GATE/CEED followed by a Design Aptitude Test and interview; Selection to M Mgt is through GATE/GMAT/CAT followed by a group discussion and interview.
- Is there any interview or aptitude test in the selection procedure for admission to the M Tech programs?
- Yes, the M Tech programs in Electronics System Engg, Climate Science, Computational Science, Earth Science, Electrical Engineering have aptitude tests and interviews and Nanoscience and Engineering and Communication Networks have only interview, after short-listing based on GATE scores.
- Is there any interview or aptitude test in the selection procedure for admission to the M Des program?
- Yes, the M Des program has a Design Aptitude Test and an interview after short-listing based on GATE/CEED scores.

- Integrated Ph D programs in the Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences are available.
- I am an M Sc, Biotechnology candidate and am in the 2nd semester, with a B Sc in Microbiology, am I eligible to apply for the Integrated Ph D program?
- Yes you are eligible to apply for the Integrated Ph D program, but you need to clear the JAM examination.
- I am a B Sc final year candidate with Physics, Maths & Computer Science, am I eligible to apply for the Integrated Ph D program?
- If you are interested in the Physical or Mathematical Sciences in the Integrated Ph D program, you are eligible to apply with a valid JAM score.
- I am a B Tech, Biotechnology candidate can I apply for the Integrated Ph D and Research programs?
- You are eligible to apply for both the Integrated Ph D and Research programs. With regard to the Integrated Ph D, you need to clear the JAM examination and for the Research program GATE is required.

- Applicants with First Class B Sc degrees and valid JAM scores are eligible to apply. Applicants with First Class BE/B Tech degrees in Biotechnology and valid JAM scores in the BT paper are eligible to apply. Applicants with First Class BE/B Tech degrees in any Engineering discipline and valid JAM scores in Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics are eligible to apply.
